Any decision to evacuate a large number of vehicles should be completed in co-operation with the police.
When evacuating people from stranded vehicles personnel should consider the security, stability and access to vehicles. It may be necessary to hand over responsibility for the security of vehicles or establish a means of protecting them and moving them when it is safe to do so to provide clear routes for emergency vehicles.
