Introduction

Collecting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) data will only be meaningful if the culture of the Fire Rescue Service (Service) supports openness and acceptance of difference. The process of collecting and analysing EDI data will provide evidence of inclusive culture and help to identify areas that require improvement with deeper understanding of our staff and their lived experiences. We can use this data to identify any existing biases, gaps or issues and work towards improving them for our staff and the communities we serve.
