  • The definition of:
    • Downstream
    • Upstream

Communication difficulties

Understand:

  • The impact of the noise of water on verbal communication
  • The limitations of using waterproof communication equipment

Hand and whistle signals

Understand:

  • The use of standard hand signals
  • The use of standard whistle blasts
  • That any variations to the standard hand signals or whistle blasts should be established and confirmed with all emergency responders

Radios

Understand:

  • Consider how to communicate with other agencies using radios
